Sitting terms of trade

This is an English translation provided for convenience. The Danish version is the legally binding one.

These terms of trade apply to the matching of dog sitting via Vuf World. You accept the terms every time you book a sitting as a dog owner, and when you sign up as a dog sitter. The terms apply in addition to Vuf World's general user terms.

The service is provided by Ringheim Create ApS, CVR no. 44059150, Strandvejen 29A, 3300 Frederiksværk (hereafter “Vuf World”). The service is offered in Denmark.

1. Vuf World's role as intermediary

Vuf World is purely a matching platform between dog owners and dog sitters. We facilitate contact and sitting and handle payment in return for a commission. Vuf World does not sell the sitting service itself.

The sitting agreement is made directly between the dog owner and the dog sitter. Vuf World is not a party to this agreement and is therefore not responsible for the performance of the sitting itself, see clause 14.

2. Definitions

  • Dog owner: a user who books sitting for their dog via the platform.
  • Dog sitter: a user who is approved to offer sitting via the platform.
  • Booking: an agreement for sitting for a specific period, made via the platform.
  • Day care: sitting a dog during the daytime without an overnight stay.
  • Overnight (boarding): sitting a dog with an overnight stay.
  • Booking fee: a fee paid by the dog owner on top of the sitting price.
  • Administration fee: a fee deducted from the dog sitter's payment.
  • Card fee: a fee to cover the costs of card payment, paid by the dog owner.

3. Becoming a dog sitter

To offer sitting you must create a sitter profile and be approved by Vuf World. When signing up, you provide among other things your services, prices and availability, upload a photo ID and enter bank details for payout.

Vuf World reviews the application and verifies your photo ID before the profile is approved. Approved dog sitters get an “ID-verified” badge on their profile. Vuf World may reject an application or request further information.

3.1 Age requirement and minor sitters

The account holder must be at least 18 years old. A person under 18 (but at least 13) may sit dogs for payment, provided that a parent or guardian over 18 creates the account and is responsible for it. The profile must clearly state that the sitting is carried out by a minor.

The family is responsible for correctly reporting AM-contribution and B-income on the relevant CPR number, see clause 16.

3.2 The dog sitter's status

Dog sitters are private individuals who are themselves responsible for reporting their income. Payment for dog sitting is normally considered B-income. As a result, tax or labour market contribution is typically not deducted automatically when you receive the money. You must report the income to the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen) yourself and ensure that tax is paid. If you have an annual turnover of more than 50,000 kr. from dog sitting, you must register for VAT.

4. Services

Through the platform you can book day care and overnight (overnight sitting). Each individual dog sitter decides which services are offered, as well as the price, accepted dog sizes and the maximum number of dogs.

5. Prices, fees and VAT

The dog sitter sets their own price per night/day. The following fees are calculated on top of the sitting price:

  • A booking fee of 15% (12% + VAT) is added on top of the sitting price and paid by the dog owner. Of the 15%, VAT makes up 3 percentage points, and 12 percentage points are Vuf World's share.
  • An administration fee of 10% is deducted from the dog sitter's payment.
  • A card fee to cover the costs of card payment (typically 25 øre plus 1–2% depending on the payment provider) is charged to the dog owner and shown as a separate line at payment.

Vuf World accounts for VAT on the fees. All prices are in Danish kroner (DKK).

5.1 Price calculation example

Example: a sitting over 5 nights at a price of 100 kr. per night, paid by card with a card fee of 1%:

Sitting (5 × 100 kr.)500,00 kr.
Booking fee (15%)+ 75,00 kr.
Card fee (approx. 1%)+ 5,75 kr.
The dog owner pays in total580,75 kr.
Administration fee (10%)− 50,00 kr.
The dog sitter receives450,00 kr.
Vuf World's share (75 + 50)125,00 kr.

Of Vuf World's share of 125,00 kr., VAT makes up 25,00 kr., and the net share is 100,00 kr. The card fee goes to the payment provider. The amounts are shown clearly to both dog owner and dog sitter before a booking is completed.

6. Payment

Payment is made in the app via our payment provider Pensopay (pensopay.com). The available payment methods depend on the provider and may, for example, include card, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Any card fees are charged to the dog owner, see clause 5.

The full amount is charged when the booking is confirmed. Because a sitting can be booked several months in advance, the amount is not merely reserved but charged at the time of booking. In the event of cancellation, any refund is made according to the rules in clause 12.

Card details are handled by the payment provider. Vuf World does not store your card details.

The booking fee is non-refundable in all cancellation scenarios. This is clearly stated before a booking is completed.

7. The agreement between dog owner and dog sitter

When a booking is confirmed and paid, the sitting agreement is made directly between the dog owner and the dog sitter. To reduce the risk of misunderstandings, we recommend that the dog sitter and dog owner meet before the sitting begins and align expectations as well as the necessary information about the dog.

8. The dog owner's obligations

  • You must provide correct and complete information about your dog, including any special needs, behaviour, food and medication.
  • Your dog must have the legally required liability insurance. You confirm this when creating the dog in the app. Vuf World does not offer additional insurance or coverage, see clause 15.
  • You must ensure that your contact details are always correct and up to date before the sitting starts, so that the dog sitter can get in touch with you.
  • You must pay for the sitting on time via the platform.

9. The dog sitter's obligations

  • You must look after the dog responsibly and in accordance with the dog owner's instructions as well as the good conduct described in the code of conduct in clause 19.
  • You must assess whether a booking can be carried out responsibly and under suitable conditions for both people and animals.
  • You must provide correct bank details and keep them up to date, see clause 13.

9.1 Acute illness, injury or emergency

If illness, injury or another acute situation arises with the dog during the sitting, it is important that the dog sitter can quickly get in touch with the dog owner. Therefore the dog owner must ensure that contact details are always correct and up to date before the sitting starts.

If the dog needs acute veterinary care during the sitting, the dog sitter will try to contact the dog owner as quickly as possible. The dog sitter can also contact our customer support for help or guidance.

If the dog owner cannot be reached in time, the dog owner accepts that the dog sitter may arrange necessary veterinary treatment on the dog's behalf, if the situation requires it. All expenses related to treatment, medication, transport or other necessary costs are covered by the dog owner. The amount may be charged via the payment method registered on the platform.

10. Right of withdrawal

Consumers generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for agreements made online. Dog sitting is a service delivered on a specific date or within a specific period, and such services are exempt from the right of withdrawal when the consumer expressly waives it.

By completing a booking, the dog owner expressly waives the right of withdrawal for the specific sitting and acknowledges that the service is delivered at the agreed time. Cancellation is then governed by clause 12.

11. Confirmation and completion of sitting

After the sitting ends, it is confirmed via the app that the sitting has been completed. The dog sitter's share is then paid out, see clause 13.

12. Cancellation and refund

A booking generally cannot be cancelled less than 48 hours before the start of the sitting via the app; this requires direct contact with our support. The following rules apply to cancellation. The booking fee is not refunded, see clause 6.

12.1 No-show

If the dog owner fails to show up, or the dog is not handed over, the full price is payable.

12.2 Cancellation at least 48 hours before start

For cancellation at least 48 hours before the start of the sitting, the amount is refunded with the exception of the booking fee.

12.3 Cancellation less than 48 hours before start

For cancellation less than 48 hours before the start of the sitting, the amount is refunded with the exception of the booking fee as well as 50% of the sitting price, which goes to the dog sitter. The dog sitter's share is paid out via the normal payout, see clause 13.

12.4 Cancellation on the same day as the start date

If the dog owner cancels on the same day the sitting was due to start, the following applies:

  • Single-day sitting (sitting for one day): the full price for the day is payable, and the amount (less the administration fee) goes to the dog sitter. The booking fee is not refunded.
  • Multi-day sitting (sitting for several days): the full price for the first day is payable, and this amount (less the administration fee) goes to the dog sitter. For the remaining days, the sitting price is refunded with the exception of 10%, which goes to Vuf World. The booking fee is not refunded.

12.5 The dog sitter cancels

If the dog sitter cancels a confirmed booking, the dog owner receives a full refund including the booking fee. Repeated cancellations from a dog sitter may result in a warning and, if repeated, suspension of the sitter profile, see clause 18.

12.6 Refund

Refunds are made to the payment method used for the booking, within 5–10 banking days.

13. Payout to the dog sitter

After the sitting ends and is confirmed, the dog sitter's share (the sitting price less the administration fee) is paid out to the specified bank account. Payout is generally made the day after the sitting ends, though within 2–3 banking days.

It is the dog sitter's responsibility to enter correct account details and to update them if the sitter changes bank or card. In the event of incorrect account details or failed payouts, Vuf World contacts the dog sitter so the details can be corrected.

14. Liability and disclaimer

When you offer dog sitting or other dog-related services via the platform, you accept that this is done at your own risk. Looking after animals may involve a risk of, among other things, personal injury, damage to property or other unforeseen events for yourself, members of your household or other people present in your home.

It is always the dog sitter's own responsibility to assess whether a booking can be carried out responsibly and under suitable conditions for both people and animals. To reduce the risk of misunderstandings or harm, we recommend that the dog sitter and dog owner meet before the sitting begins.

By accepting a booking as a dog sitter, you declare the following:

14.1 Liability when sitting in your own home

You accept that looking after other people's dogs in your home is done voluntarily and at your own risk. You understand that situations may arise that cause harm to people, animals, your home or belongings, and you take on responsibility for such matters yourself, including matters that affect other members of your household.

You also acknowledge that animals may react unpredictably, and that looking after a dog that is not known to you or your household involves a natural risk.

14.2 Indemnification of the platform

You accept that the platform and its owners, employees and partners cannot be held liable for claims, losses, damages, personal injury, illness, death or other events that may arise in connection with dog sitting or use of the platform's services.

This applies among other things to matters related to:

  • harm to people or animals,
  • damage to a home or belongings,
  • conflicts between users,
  • missing or insufficient delivery of services,
  • actions or behaviour by other users,
  • technical errors, breakdowns or unavailability of the platform.

By registering and using the platform, you accept that any agreements about dog sitting are made directly between the users, and that the platform acts solely as an intermediary for the contact between the parties.

The platform cannot be held liable for indirect losses, operating losses, consequential damages or other financial consequences that may arise as a result of using the platform or the services offered through it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be disclaimed under Danish law.

15. Insurance

The dog must have the legally required liability insurance. Damage during sitting is covered, as with ordinary private sitting, by the dog's insurance. Vuf World does not offer additional insurance or coverage.

16. Tax and reporting

The dog sitter is themselves responsible for reporting their income from dog sitting to the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen), see clause 3.2. Payment for dog sitting is normally considered B-income.

Vuf World accounts for VAT on the fees that Vuf World charges. Vuf World may also be obliged to report information about dog sitters' earnings to the tax authorities, if and when the law requires it. As a general rule, however, it is the dog sitter themselves who must report their income.

17. Complaints and disputes

Disputes regarding a sitting should generally be resolved between the dog owner and the dog sitter. Vuf World does not provide legal assistance, but may step in as an impartial mediator without legal binding.

If a dispute cannot be resolved, we refer you to the Danish Centre for Complaint Resolution (Center for Klageløsning). These terms are governed by Danish law with Danish venue.

18. Suspension and deactivation

Any breach of these terms may result in a dog sitter or dog owner being deactivated. Deactivation may occur, among other things, in the event of:

  • receiving or negotiating payment outside the platform,
  • failure to comply with the platform's terms and conditions,
  • repeated cancellations without a valid reason,
  • neglect or mistreatment of dogs during sitting,
  • false or misleading information in a profile or application,
  • harassment or inappropriate behaviour towards other users or support,
  • misuse of the platform's features,
  • activity in breach of applicable law.

19. Code of conduct for dog sitters

As a dog sitter you represent the Vuf World community. The following good advice helps you provide safe and good sitting:

  • Feel free to meet the dog and the dog owner before the sitting, so you can align expectations and get to know the dog.
  • Gather all relevant information before the sitting: food and feeding times, any medication, habits, exercise needs, and contact details for the owner and vet.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for the dog throughout the sitting period.
  • Follow the dog owner's instructions about food, exercise and daily routine.
  • Keep the dog owner updated along the way, for example with photos and short messages via the chat.
  • Pay attention to the dog's behaviour and wellbeing, and react quickly if something seems wrong.
  • Always have contact details to hand, and contact the dog owner or support if in doubt or in an acute situation.
  • Treat the dog with care and respect, and return it happy and safe and sound.

20. Personal data

We process personal data as described in our privacy policy. Ringheim Create ApS is the data controller for the processing of personal data in connection with Vuf World. Photo ID collected when signing up as a dog sitter is processed confidentially and stored securely.

21. Changes to the terms

We may update these terms of trade, for example in the event of changes to the service, the fee structure or the law. The terms in force at any given time are available in the app and are accepted with each new booking as well as when signing up as a dog sitter.

22. Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by Danish law. Any disputes are settled by the Danish courts with Danish venue.

23. Contact

24. Acceptance

You accept these terms of trade every time you book a sitting as a dog owner, and when you sign up as a dog sitter. The terms apply in addition to Vuf World's general user terms.
